Dr. Luke VanRooy

Veterinarian

I was lucky to grow up surrounded by animals on a small dairy farm in the Niagara region. I also felt magic in observing wildlife while working the fields – especially mowing hay as a teenager – which gives you plenty of time to think. I thought, “I want to have a job I enjoy”. I knew working with animals would bring me joy – which led to me graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2014. While in my final year, I met Dr. Brittany who is now my wife and partner in all things. I’m very proud of her – especially her well deserved confidence in her dental and surgical skills. In late 2023, together we became the proud owners of Cambridge Veterinary Services.

My philosophy in veterinary medicine is constantly changing as I grow and learn. The core value which never changes is the importance of communication. You – the owner, pet parent, mom, dad or guardian – are the expert on your animal. It is my job as the expert in animal health to listen, assess, and provide advice and recommendations, then listen again as we decide together how to take care of your pet.

I love preventative care. You can’t always avoid illness but I’d rather prevent 100 animals from getting sick than treat 100 sick pets. I have also found treating diseases of the skin and eyes particularly rewarding.

In my personal life, I would call myself an athletic nerd. I basically wish I was Henry Cavill (and I doubt Britt would complain). My go-to stress buster is video games, but I also enjoy reading and board games. On the athletic side I have played hockey my entire life, I enjoy hiking, backcountry camping, cycling and fitness in general. I struggle to find time for snowboarding and Dungeons and Dragons (not at the same time though, that’d be crazy). Dr. Britt and I have a daughter together and a house full of pets. If you ask at the clinic, they’ll probably tell you our daughter has had me wrapped around her finger since she was born.

Veterinarian

I grew up in the countryside around Caledonia, sticking my arms through the backyard fence to pet our neighbour’s lambs and spending weekends at the local horse barn. Since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 2017, I’ve had the opportunity to work at many busy clinics throughout Southern Ontario before pursuing what would eventually bring me to Cambridge Veterinary Services (CVS) – my passion for veterinary dentistry and soft tissue surgery.

While pursuing my special interests in dentistry and surgery, I’ve taken several dental courses, spent countless hours honing my skills, been hired to teach these skills to fellow veterinarians, and even given talks on teaching dental skills at the OVC. I came to CVS in 2021 to provide high quality care for my patients, and together with my husband–Dr. Luke–took over ownership of Cambridge Veterinary Services in late 2023. We’re very excited about continuing to provide the excellent care and personal feel our clients are used to, while ensuring that we’re staying up to date with the advancements of modern medicine.

One of the best parts of my job (besides the obvious–wet puppy kisses and the sweet satisfaction of removing a painful tooth!), is building relationships with my clients through clear communication and client education. My mission is to reduce pain and suffering through preventative surgery and comprehensive dental care, and to help my patients live long, happy lives with their well-informed pet-parents at their sides.

Outside of work, you might find me enjoying anything related to science fiction or fantasy, working on my novel, or spending time outdoors with my family–including a dog, two cats, a small flock of laying hens, and one daughter who gets both more sassy and loveable by the day.

Dr. Lindsay Forsyth

Veterinarian

I always wanted to be a veterinarian; there was never a plan B! I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004 and worked at a few hospitals before finding my home at Cambridge Veterinary Services in 2013. Since then I have had the privilege of watching this single doctor practice grow and thrive into a multi-doctor practice alongside the very best team of professionals and caregivers you will ever find!

Building trusting relationships with our clients and helping their furry companions is at the heart of what I enjoy the most.

Dr. Whitney Moore

Veterinarian

Dr. Whitney has always felt a strong connection with animals, which provided a solid foundation for her studies at the Ontario Veterinary College, where she graduated in 2011. Coming from North Bay, Whitney decided to start her career in a rural Northern Ontario practice in New Liskeard, where she obtained 5 years of invaluable experience in small animal practice and emergency medicine. She even dabbled a little in large animal medicine, and will always have a soft spot for pigs.

Dr. Whitney has been a part of the team at Cambridge Veterinary Services since 2016. Her interests include dental care and preventative medicine, and she strives to become more proficient in ultrasound. She lives in Kitchener with her husband, and her crazy dog, Cinder, and two cats, Athena and Thor. When she isn’t working, she loves crafting, finding new places to hike and explore, and playing soccer or downhill skiing.

Dr. Amanda Borecki

Veterinarian

Dr. Amanda grew up in Brampton with furry, canine siblings. She pursued her love of animals with a job at the local veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant. Dr. Amanda went to the University of Guelph to achieve her Bachelor’s of Science degree, majoring in Animal Biology. Her lifelong passion for animals and interest in medicine led her to the Ontario Veterinary College, where she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2014. She has worked in veterinary hospitals in Guelph and Orangeville, until settling into the team at Cambridge Veterinary Services in 2020.

Dr. Amanda enjoys helping both people and pets in the challenges of general practice, and has special interests in preventative medicine and diagnostic imaging. She happily devotes most of her spare time to her husband and children. Dr. Amanda looks forward to sharing her love of animals with her children, and the enrichment furry siblings can bring.
